Cylinder Head Replacement - Left Side
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Remove the fan shroud.
4. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket.
5. Remove the power steering pump mounting bracket stud from the cylinder head.
6. Remove the intake manifold.
7. Remove the exhaust manifold.
8. Remove the ground wires at the rear of the cylinder head.
9. Remove the transmission control cable bracket.
10. Remove the valve pushrods.
11. Remove the cylinder head bolts.
12. Remove the cylinder head.
13. Clean all sealing surfaces. Refer to Cylinder Head Clean and Inspect under Engine Unit Repair.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the cylinder head. Refer to Cylinder Head Installation under Engine Unit Repair.
2. Install the valve pushrods.
3. Install the ground wires and nut at the rear of the cylinder head.
^ Tighten the ground wire nut to 10 Nm (88 inch lbs.).
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the transmission control cable bracket and bolts at the rear of the cylinder head.
^ Tighten the transmission control cable bracket bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the exhaust manifold.
6. Install the intake manifold.
7. Install the stud for the power steering pump mounting bracket to the cylinder head.
^ Tighten the power steering pump mounting bracket stud to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
8. Install the power steering pump mounting bracket.
9. Install the fan shroud.
10. Fill the engine coolant system.
11. Connect the battery negative cable.
12. Install the engine cover.
