C0048

Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) Power And Ground:

DTC C0048 - Left Front Dump Solenoid Circuit Shorted:

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the LF dump solenoid is needed, the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM) will ground the solenoid circuit to energize the coil within the solenoid. This will open the dump valve by the magnetic force created by the solenoid coil.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)
High voltage on EBCM solenoid driver circuit when low voltage is expected (solenoid energized)

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ ANTILOCK indicator lamp is illuminated
^ Antilock Brake System (ABS) is disabled

NOTE: DTC C0048 is an Ignition Latched DTC, which indicates that the above is true until the ignition switch is turned to Off position (even if the cause of the DTC is intermittent).

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
DTC C0048 is usually set by a shorted solenoid within the EBCM. The dump solenoid coils are located within the EBCM and are not serviceable. If the test does not repair the DTC, the EBCM must be replaced.
If DTC C0048 is set with other DTCs, check for a poor EBCM ground or poor EBCM power feed.

TEST DESCRIPTION

NOTE: Number(s) below refer to number(s) on the diagnostic chart.

2. Inspect EBCM 2-way harness connector for damage.
3. Check EBCM power and ground circuits.
