Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation

The service engine soon indicator lamp should turn on with the ignition switch in the "RUN" position and the engine off. The lamp should turn off 1 to 5 seconds after the engine starts. If the lamp stays on or turns on while driving, service to the emission control system may be required.
