Removal Procedure
^ Tools Required- J 5239 Connecting Rod Guide Set
- J 24270 Ridge Reamer
- J 8037 Piston Ring Compressor
- J 36660 Torque Angle Meter
- Or Equivalents
1. Remove the cylinder head.
2. Remove the oil pan.
3. Remove the oil pump.
4. Remove the ridge or deposits from the upper end of the cylinder bores.
5. Remove the connecting rod cap.
6. Check the connecting rod and the cap for identification marks. Mark the Parts if required. Keep the connecting rod and the cap together as mating parts.
7. Attach the connecting rod guide set to the connecting rod bolts.
8. Use the long guide rod of the connecting rod guide set in order to push the connecting rod and the piston out of the bore.
9. Remove the connecting rod bearing.
10. Clean, and inspect all Components. Repair, or replace components as necessary.
11. Measure connecting rod bearing clearance.
12. Measure the piston clearance.
13. Measure piston ring clearances.
