Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTIONThe catalytic converter is an emission control device added to the exhaust system to reduce hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide, and nitrogen oxide pollutants that are contained in the exhaust gas. The catalytic converter and exhaust manifold pipe are a one-piece assembly. The catalyst in the catalytic converter is not serviceable.
NOTE: The catalytic converter requires the use of unleaded fuel only. Using leaded fuel will damage the catalytic converter and other emission system components.
