Fuel Meter Body Assembly

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace O-ring seals exposed during component service.

REMOVAL:

- Disconnect negative battery terminal.
- Loosen fuel filler cap(s) to relieve fuel tank pressure.
- Remove air cleaner assembly, extension (spacer), and gasket.
- Disconnect electrical connectors from fuel injectors.
- Remove fuel meter body cover and fuel injectors.
- Disconnect fuel inlet (feed) and outlet (return) lines.
- Remove fuel line O-rings and discard.
- Remove fuel inlet nut and two O-rings, fuel outlet fitting and gasket from the fuel meter body assembly
- Discard O-rings and gasket.
- Remove fuel meter body to throttle body attaching screw assemblies.
- Remove fuel meter body and gasket from throttle body. Discard gasket.

INSTALLATION:

- Install a new throttle body to fuel meter body gasket.
- Install fuel meter body on throttle body assembly.
- Install fuel meter body to throttle body attaching screw assemblies with appropriate thread locking compound. Tighten meter body attaching screws to 4.5 Nm (40 lb.in.).
- Lubricate fuel inlet nut O-rings with engine oil.
- Connect fuel inlet nut and two O-rings, fuel outlet fitting and gasket. Tighten inlet and outlet nut to 41.0 Nm (30 lb.ft.).
- Install new O-rings on fuel inlet and outlet lines.
- Connect fuel lines. Tighten fuel line nuts to 27.0 Nm (20 lb.ft.). Always use a backup wrench on TBI fuel nuts to prevent them from turning.
- Install fuel injectors and fuel meter body cover.
- Connect electrical connectors to injectors.
- Connect negative battery terminal.
- With engine OFF and ignition ON, check for fuel leaks.
- Install gasket, extension, and air cleaner assembly.
