This bulletin is being revise to add the 1993-95 model years. Previous divisional publication numbers were:

Chevrolet 92-178-8A

GM of Canada 92-8-149

Oldsmobile 92-T-80

Pontiac 92-8-20

Condition

One or more intermittent electrical conditions may exist on the above listed vehicles. Some of these conditions may be: driveability, erratic speedometer, cruise control, or instrument cluster operation.

Cause





The nut securing the ground wires at the G105 stud may be loose. The circuit is shown on page 8A-14-3 (1992-93), page 8A-14-1 (1994) and page 8A-14-2 (1995) of the Service Manual. The stud is located under the front coil of the DIS coil pack, on the right side of the engine, just behind the serpentine drive belt (see Figure 1).

Correction

Tighten the nut to 17 Nm (12 ft lb) torque. Recheck for proper operation of the affected circuits.
