Fuel Injector(S) Replacement

Fuel Pressure Regulator:

NOTE: Before disassembly, the fuel rail assembly may be cleaned with a spray type engine cleaner, such as AC Delco X-30A or equivalent. The fuel rail should not be immersed in liquid solvent.

Fuel Rail And Injectors - Removal/Installation:

REMOVAL:

1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
2. Using a shop towel to catch any fuel leakage, disconnect the fuel supply and return lines from the inlet and outlet of the fuel rail. Use a back-up wrench to avoid twisting the fittings on the fuel rail.
3. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
4. Disconnect the vacuum line to the pressure regulator.
5. Remove the four bolts securing the fuel rail assembly to the intake manifold.
6. Remove the fuel rail from the intake manifold. Cover all openings to avoid contamination.

INSTALLATION:

1. Lightly coat the injector O-rings with clean engine oil.
2. Install the fuel rail on the intake manifold. Seat the injectors into the manifold by hand.
3. Install the four bolts securing the fuel rail to the intake manifold, and tighten to 10-20 Nm (7-14 ft lb).
4. Connect the fuel supply and return lines to the fuel rail.
5. Connect the injector electrical connectors.
6. Connect the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator.
7. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position for two seconds, then turn the ignition switch OFF for ten seconds. Again, turn the ignition switch ON and check for fuel leaks.
