Cranking Signal: Description and Operation

Crank Signal:

PURPOSE
Provides an ignition voltage signal to the ECM during cranking to allow enrichment and cancel diagnostics until the engine is running or 12 volts is no longer on circuit. This tells the ECM when the vehicle is in the starting mode.
