Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Oil Pan Installation:




REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Oil pan drain plug.
^ Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
2. Oil filter.
3. Engine assembly. Refer to Service and Repair. Service and Repair
4. Oil pan bolts (35) and (36).
5. Oil pan nuts (38).
6. Oil pan reinforcements (37) and, clip.
7. Oil pan.
8. Oil pan gasket.

CLEAN
^ Sealing surfaces on the engine and oil pan.

CAUTION Before installing the oil pan, check that the seal surfaces on the pan, engine block and front cover are free of oil. Make sure that all RTV is removed from blind attaching holes.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Oil pan gasket.
^ Apply sealer (GM Part No. 1052914 or equivalent) to the area shown.
2. Oil pan to the cylinder block.
3. Reinforcements (37) and clip.
4. Oil pan bolts (35) and (36).
5. Oil pan nuts (38).
6. Oil pan drain plug.
Tighten
^ Bolts (35) to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
^ Bolts (36) to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
^ Nuts (38) to 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.).
^ Drain plug to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
7. Engine assembly. Refer to Service and Repair. Service and Repair
8. Oil filter.
9. Engine oil.
