Circuit/System Description
The traction control switch for the CTS-V is located on the steering wheel. When the switch is pressed, the signal circuit from the body control module (BCM) is pulled low through a series of resisters indicating the traction control disable command. In response to this signal, the BCM sends a serial data message to the electronic brake control module (EBCM) to disable the traction control system. When the traction control switch is pressed and held for 5 seconds, the BCM sends a serial data message to the EBCM commanding it to disable the stability control. After the EBCM disables the stability control, it sends a serial data message to the instrument cluster requesting it to turn the traction control indicator OFF and turn stability off indicator ON.

Circuit/System Verification
Ignition ON, observe the scan tool BCM, SWC Bank 1 Status parameter while pressing the traction control switch. The reading should change between Idle and Switch 6.
If not the specified value, refer to Steering Wheel Controls Malfunction (Steering Wheel Controls Malfunction - Secondary and Configurable Customer Controls).
If the reading changes between Idle and Switch 6, the traction control is inoperative, and there are NO other DTCs set, replace the EBCM.
Repair Instructions
Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification (Verification Tests) after completing the diagnostic procedure.
