Rear Axle Lower Control Arm Replacement (w/FE1, FE3)

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the rear suspension support assembly. Refer to Rear Support Replacement (w/FE1, FE3) (Rear Support Replacement (W/FE1, FE3))Rear Support Replacement (w/FE7) (Rear Support Replacement (W/FE7)).




2. Remove the stabilizer shaft link bolt.
3. Remove the stabilizer shaft insulators and spacer.
4. Remove the hub and bearing, if necessary. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3))Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7)).




5. Remove the nuts and the bolts securing the control arm to the rear suspension support assembly.
6. Remove the lower control arm.

Installation Procedure





Note: The control arm nuts should be tightened with the vehicle unsupported and resting on the wheels at the normal trim height.

1. Install the lower control arm to the rear suspension support assembly.




2. Install the wheel bearing and hub, if necessary. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE1, FE3))Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7) (Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement (FE7)).





Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

3. Install stabilizer shaft link bolt, spacer, insulator, and nut.

Tighten the stabilizer shaft link nut to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

4. Install the rear suspension support assembly. Refer to Rear Support Replacement (w/FE1, FE3) (Rear Support Replacement (W/FE1, FE3))Rear Support Replacement (w/FE7) (Rear Support Replacement (W/FE7)).
5. Tighten the control arm nuts and bolts with the vehicle at normal ride height.

Tighten the control arm nuts to 106 Nm (78 lb ft).

6. Lower the vehicle.
