Radiator Surge Tank Outlet Hose/Pipe Replacement (LY7/LLT)

- J 38185 Hose Clamp Pliers

Removal Proecedure

1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Service and Repair.






2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the outlet hose (2) from the surge tank (1).
3. Loosen the bolt on the bracket which secures the surge tank outlet hose to the engine.
4. Remove the windshield wiper transmission. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement Service and Repair.
5. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to remove the surge tank outlet hose from the thermostat assembly.
6. Remove the surge tank outlet hose/pipe from the engine.

Installation Procedure

1. Position the surge tank outlet hose/pipe to the engine.
2. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat assembly.
3. Install the windshield wiper transmission. Refer to Windshield Wiper Transmission Replacement Service and Repair.

Caution: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners, or fastener joint surfaces, unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems. When using fasteners that are threaded directly into plastic, use extreme care not to strip the mating plastic part(s). Use hand tools only, and do not use any kind of impact or power tools. Fastener should be hand tightened, fully seated, and not stripped.

4. Install the bolt to the bracket securing the surge tank outlet pipe to the engine and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).






5. Position J 38185 to the clamp in order to connect the outlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1).
6. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling Service and Repair.
