Fan Shroud Replacement

Removal Procedure


Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.


Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .




2. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
3. Remove the auxiliary water pump and any hoses.
4. Remove any hoses or pipes.
5. Disconnect the condenser tube from the cooling fan shroud retainer clip.
6. Disengage the surge tank inlet hose from the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud and reposition aside.
7. Remove the retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.
8. Remove the cooling fan assembly.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the cooling fan assembly.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the retaining bolts that secure the cooling fan shroud to the radiator.

Tighten the bolts to 5.4 N.m (48 lb in).

3. Engage the surge tank inlet hose to the retaining features on the cooling fan shroud.
4. Connect the condenser tube to the cooling fan shroud retainer clip.
5. Install the auxiliary water pump and any hoses.
6. Connect any hoses or pipes.
7. Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement (Service and Repair) .
