Folding Top Storage Compartment Closeout Panel Link Replacement - Front
Removal Procedure
1. Place the folding top in the up position.
2. Place a protective covering over the interior and the adjacent body panels.
3. Remove the rear window panel.
4. Using an open-end wrench, remove both of the drive rods from the center compartment closeout panel.
5. Remove both of the outer compartment closeout panels.
6. Remove the position switch.
7. Remove the spring clip (1) from the hydraulic cylinder retainer pin.
8. Remove the retainer pin (1).
9. Remove the spring clip (1) from the hydraulic cylinder.
10. Remove the hydraulic cylinder (2) from the link (1).
11. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the bolts (1) to the support bracket.
12. Remove the outboard link bolts (1).
13. Loosen the center link nuts (1).
14. Remove the link (2) from the vehicle.
15. Note the number and the location of any shims.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the link to the vehicle. Hand start the bolts. Do NOT tighten.
2. Apply LOCTITE(TM) Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bolts.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
3. Align the bolts to the marks on the support bracket.
Tighten the bolts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
4. Install the shims in the same locations.
5. Pull the link (2) forward until the slots are seated against the studs. Install the center link nuts (1).
Tighten the nuts to 11 N.m (97 lb in).
6. Position the hydraulic cylinder (2) to the folding top support bracket (1).
7. Install the spring clip (1) to the hydraulic cylinder.
8. Install the retainer pin (1) to the hydraulic cylinder.
9. Install the spring clip (2) to the retainer pin (1).
10. Install the position switch.
11. Install both of the drive rods to the center compartment closeout panel.
12. Install the outer compartment closeout panels.
13. Verify that the compartment closeout panels are properly aligned. Refer to Folding Top Clearance Gap Specifications.
14. Adjust the center compartment closeout panel, if necessary. Refer to Folding Top Storage Compartment Closeout Panel Adjustment - Front.
15. Adjust the outer compartment closeout panel, if necessary. Refer to Folding Top Storage Compartment Closeout Panel Adjustment - Front Outer.
16. Remove the protective covering.
17. Cycle the folding top under power through one complete cycle in both directions.
18. Inspect the folding top for proper operation.
19. Install the rear window panel.
