Throttle Body Assembly Replacement

THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
2. Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) fresh air tube quick connect fittings at the camshaft cover and the air cleaner outlet duct.
3. Remove the PCV fresh air tube.

4. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the throttle body.
5. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the throttle body.

6. Loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the mass air flow/intake air temperature (MAF/IAT) sensor.
7. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct from the MAF/IAT sensor and the vehicle.

8. Disconnect the engine harness electrical connector (5) from the throttle actuator.

9. Remove the transaxle vent hose clip (1) from the shift cable bracket.

10. Remove the transaxle shift cable clip from the shift cable bracket.

11. Remove the throttle body bolts.
12. Remove the shift cable bracket.
13. Remove the throttle body.
14. Remove and discard the throttle body seal.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Install a NEW throttle body seal.
2. Position the throttle body.
3. Position l the shift cable bracket.
4. Install the throttle body bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

5. Install the transaxle shift cable clip to the shift cable bracket.

6. Install the transaxle vent hose clip (1) to the shift cable bracket.

7. Connect the engine harness electrical connector (5) to the throttle actuator.

8. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the vehicle and the MAF/IAT sensor.

9. Install the air cleaner outlet duct to the throttle body.
10. Tighten the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the throttle body and MAF/IAT sensor.

Tighten the clamps to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

11. Install the PCV fresh air tube.

IMPORTANT: Route the PCV fresh air tube under the vacuum brake booster hose and the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge valve.

12. Connect the PCV fresh air tube quick connect fittings at the camshaft cover and the air cleaner outlet duct.
13. Install the fuel injector sight shield.
