Reverse Lockout Solenoid Replacement

Tools Required
^ J41099 Skip Shift Sensor Remover/Installer

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the exhaust system.
3. Support the transmission with a suitable jack.
4. Remove the transmission support.
5. Remove the transmission mount.
6. Disconnect the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (5).





7. Using the J41099, remove the reverse lockout solenoid.
8. Remove the bolt and the reverse lockout assembly, if necessary.

Installation Procedure





1. If removed, inspect the reverse lockout assembly O-ring. Replace the reverse lockout assembly O-ring if necessary.

2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the reverse lockout assembly and bolt.

Tighten the reverse lockout assembly bolt to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).

3. Install the reverse lockout solenoid using the J41099. Inspect and replace the O-ring if necessary.

Tighten the reverse lockout solenoid to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).





4. Connect the reverse lockout solenoid electrical connector (5).
5. Install the transmission mount.
6. Install the transmission support.
7. Remove the transmission jack.
8. Install the exhaust system.
9. Lower the vehicle.
