Fuel Door Release Actuator: Service and Repair

FUEL FILLER DOOR RELEASE ACTUATOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
The electronically operated fuel filler door can be manually opened by pulling on the manual release cable. The location is in the rear compartment drivers side rear inner wheelhouse side trim.
1. Remove the wheelhouse liner panel.




2. Open the fuel door and remove the nut (1) attaching the fuel door release cable to the fuel pocket.
3. Remove the driver side rear compartment trim.




4. Remove the bolt (1) securing the actuator.
5. Disconnect the electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the manual release cable.
7. Remove the actuator.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Position the actuator.
2. Install the nut (2) attaching the actuator.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the nut to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

3. Connect the electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the manual release cable.
5. Install the cable to the fuel pocket.




6. Install the nut (1) attaching the door release cable to the fuel filler pocket.

Tighten the nut to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

7. Install the driver side rear compartment trim.
8. Install the wheelhouse liner panel.
