Doors, Hood and Trunk Diagnosis
DTC B1011
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The driver door module (DDM) and passenger door module (PDM) are responsible for checking the critical temperature of their respective window motors at least once every 50 milliseconds. When the DDM or PDM detects a critical temperature in the window motor, a DTC will be set. For more detailed information concerning power window operation refer to Power Windows Description and Operation.
DTC DESCRIPTOR
This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTC:
DTC B1011-System Disabled Information Stored
CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
Battery voltage must be between 9-16 volts.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
- Window indexing down is still functional.
- Normal functional requests are possible until the window is completely closed.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
- The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
- You issue a scan tool CLEAR DTCs command.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
- An intermittent sticking or binding condition on a window causing excessive current draw resulting in a critical temperature fault
- An internally shorted window motor
- Thoroughly inspect the wiring and connectors. An incomplete inspection of the wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis causing part replacement with the reappearance of the malfunction. If an intermittent malfunction exists, refer to Diagnostic Aids for Circuit Testing and Wiring Repair procedures.
