Parking Brake Diagnosis

DTC B0005

Circuit Description
The body control module (BCM) monitors the status of the park brake via serial data messages from the instrument panel cluster (IPC).

Conditions for Running the DTC
The ignition is ON.

Conditions for Setting the DTC
This code is set when the fallowing criteria are met.
^ The BCM receives a serial data message that the park brake is applied.
^ The vehicle speed is greater than 8 km/h (5 mph).

Action Taken When the DTC Sets
This DTC is set for information purposes only and does not effect operation of the vehicle.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC
^ The condition for the DTC is no longer present and the DTC is cleared with a scan tool.
^ The electronic brake control module (EBCM) automatically clears the history DTC when a current DTC is not detected in 100 consecutive drive cycles.

Diagnostic Aids
This DTC indicates that a fault has occurred with the park brake system. If no park brake DTCs are set, check for a park brake symptom. Go to Park Brake System Diagnosis in Park Brake Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
