Equipped with 3.6L (RPO LY7 - VIN Code 7) V6 Engine

Purpose

This bulletin provides information about installing new Engine Control Module (ECM) software and calibration on certain 2005 Cadillac CTS and SRX model vehicles equipped with a 3.6L (RPO LY7 - VIN Code 7) V6 engine. The revised calibration includes Vehicle Communications system improvements that should be installed as soon as practical. Install the new calibration on all affected vehicles identified on the VIN list included with this bulletin launch, including vehicles in new dealer inventory and any vehicles that return for service, for any reason, during the applicable vehicle warranty coverage period. To verify if an updated calibration is required, refer to the following procedure in this bulletin.

Service Procedure

The GM Vehicle Inquiry System (GMVIS) must be checked to see if labor operation Y0009 has been claimed on the vehicle. If Y0009 labor operation has not been claimed, reprogram the ECM using a Tech 2 scan tool with the calibration update from Techline Information System (TIS) 2000 data version 6.25 or later, broadcast to dealers on June 4, 2004; and on TIS CD-ROM version 7 for 2004, scheduled for mailing to dealer by June 28, 2004.
