Carpet Replacement - Front

Tools Required

J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover


Removal Procedure

1. Remove the front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) in Seats.
2. Remove the center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS, w/o UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS Without RPO UV8))Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS with UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS With RPO UV8)) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
3. Remove the center seat if equipped. Refer to Seat Replacement - Center (w/o UV8) (Seat Replacement - Center (Without RPO Code UV8))Seat Replacement - Center (UV8) (Seat Replacement - Center (With RPO Code UV8)) in Seats.
4. Remove the front carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front (Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front) .




5. Using a J 38778 remove the 4 retainers from the front and rear carpet overlap seam.




6. Separate the floor vents from the floor ducts before removing the front carpet.
7. Remove the carpet from the vehicle.



Installation Procedure






Caution: In order to avoid personal injury or vehicle damage when you repair or replace the carpet, use the same thickness and material size as the original installation. Always return the carpet to the original location.


Caution: All floor pan insulator material must meet Federal Vehicle Safety Standards for flammability. Failure to do so could result in personal injury and/or vehicle damage.

1. Lay the front carpet into the vehicle.
2. Work the front edges of the carpet into place under the instrument panel.
3. Install the floor vent into the floor ducts.




4. Install the 4 retainers into the floor pan at the front and rear carpet overlap seam.
5. Install the center console. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS, w/o UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS Without RPO UV8))Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS with UV8) (Console Replacement - Front Floor (DTS With RPO UV8)) in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
6. Install the center seat if equipped. Refer to Seat Replacement - Center (w/o UV8) (Seat Replacement - Center (Without RPO Code UV8))Seat Replacement - Center (UV8) (Seat Replacement - Center (With RPO Code UV8)) in Seats.
7. Install the front carpet retainers. Refer to Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front (Carpet Retainer Replacement - Front) .
8. Install the front seats. Refer to Seat Replacement - Bucket (Seat Replacement - Bucket) in Seats.
