Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil - Disassemble - Off Vehicle

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.

Important: Check the main wiring harness assembly for burned 2 amp fuses before doing this procedure. The inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector connects to the main wiring harness assembly.

2. Remove the upper and lower trim cover.
3. Remove the steering wheel from the column.
4. Remove the steering column from the vehicle.
5. Inspect the steering column for accident damage.
6. Remove the retaining ring (2) using snap ring pliers.
7. Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (1) connector from the wire harness assembly.
8. Slide the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (1) off of the steering shaft.
