Cooling Fan Replacement - ElectricRemoval Procedure
Caution:
- An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.
1. Disconnect the negative battery negative cable.
2. Remove the secondary AIR cut-off bracket bolts and bracket from the cooling fan.
3. Remove the intake air resonator.
4. Remove the upper radiator covers:
- Release the self-locking tabs.
- Remove the cover screws.
- Remove the covers.
5. Disconnect the primary fan motor electrical connector.
6. Disconnect the primary fan cooling switch electrical connector.
7. Remove the auxiliary water pump clips and the auxiliary water pump from the fan shroud.
8. Remove the transmission oil cooler fitting bolt.
9. Remove the transmission oil cooler bracket bolt and reposition the transmission oil cooler lines.
10. Remove the fan shroud bolts and remove the fan shroud from the vehicle.
11. Remove the fan motor nuts (1).
12. Remove the fan motor from the fan shroud.
13. Remove the fan blade retainer clip (1).
14. Remove the fan blade from the fan motor.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the fan blade to the fan motor.
2. Install the fan blade retainer clip (1).
3. Install the fan motor to the fan shroud.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the fan motor nuts (1).
Tighten the fan motor nuts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
5. Install the fan shroud to the vehicle.
6. Install the fan shroud bolts (1).
Tighten the fan shroud bolts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
7. Install the upper transmission oil cooler pipe fitting and seals.
8. Install the transmission oil cooler fitting bolt.
Tighten the transmission oil cooler fitting bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the transmission oil cooler bracket bolt.
Tighten the transmission oil cooler bracket bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
10. Install the auxiliary water pump to the fan shroud.
11. Install the auxiliary water pump retaining clips.
12. Connect the primary cooling fan switch electrical connector.
13. Connect the primary cooling fan electrical connector.
14. Install the upper radiator covers:
- Position the covers.
- Insert the self-locking tabs.
- Install the radiator cover screws.
Tighten
Tighten the radiator cover screws to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
15. Install the intake air resonator.
16. Install the secondary AIR cut-off valve bracket.
17. Install the secondary AIR cut-off valve bracket bolts.
Tighten the secondary AIR cut-off valve bolts to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.).
18. Connect the negative battery cable.
