Ignition Switch Lock Cylinder: Service and Repair



REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Service Precautions Caution in Service Precautions.




1. Disable the SIR. Service and Repair
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the radio or the navigation display module.
4. Remove the A/C heater control head.
5. Insert the ignition key and turn the ignition switch to RUN.
6. Look through the radio opening in the IP and locate the release button (1) on the side of the switch.
7. Depress and hold the ignition lock cylinder retaining tab (located on the right lower side of the ignition switch), using a flat-bladed screwdriver or other suitable tool.




8. Pull on the ignition cylinder in order to remove the cylinder.




9. Release the retainers from the ignition cylinder bezel.
10. Slide the reader/exciter (4) and the cylinder cover (2) away from the ignition cylinder.
11. Release the retainers from the light pipe (2) to the cylinder.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the ignition cylinder cover (2) and the light pipe (3) onto the ignition cylinder, and engage the retainers.
2. Slide the reader/exciter (4) onto the ignition cylinder, and align the reader/exciter to the slot on the cylinder.
3. Install the ignition cylinder bezel on the cylinder, and engage the retainers.




4. Insert the ignition lock cylinder (1) with the key installed into the ignition switch (2).
5. Press the ignition lock cylinder into place.
The lock cylinder retaining tab will produce an audible click.
6. Using light force, pull on the lock cylinder in order to ensure the lock cylinder is engaged and secured in place.
7. Turn the ignition to LOCK, then remove the key.
8. Install the A/C heater control head.
9. Install the radio or the navigation display module.
10. Release the parking brake.
11. Inspect the ignition switch for proper operation in all positions.
12. Enable the SIR system.
