Cruise Release Switch ReplacementREMOVAL PROCEDURE
NOTE: Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch adjustment could cause brake drag and excessive brake lining wear.
1. Remove the driver side insulator panel.
2. Disconnect the upper switch electrical connector.
3. Twist the upper switch (5) counter-clockwise.
Remove the switch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: When the brake pedal switches are installed, the brake pedal must remain in the full up or at rest position, or damage to the brake system and/or switch misadjustment can occur.
1. Connect the upper switch (5) electrical connector.
2. Install the upper switch (5) into the upper retainer (6). Install the switch connector in the 6 o'clock position.
IMPORTANT: The cruise release switch assembly and the stoplamp switch assembly must not be adjusted until after the brake booster pushrod is assembled to the brake pedal assembly. Incorrect adjustment can cause the cruise control system to not work properly.
3. Adjust the cruise release switch. Refer to Cruise Release Switch Adjustment.
4. Install the driver side insulator panel.
