Door Locks: Description and Operation
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK SYSTEM DESCRIPTIONThe Automatic Door Lock (ADL) function provides for locking or unlocking the doors when shifting the transmission in and out of PARK. Customized selections may be made as follows:
1. No automatic door lock or unlock
2. Automatic all door lock when gear selector moves out of PARK. No automatic door unlock
3. Automatic all door lock when gear selector moves out of PARK. Automatic driver door unlock when gear selector moves into PARK
4. Automatic all door lock when gear selector moves out of PARK. Automatic all door unlock when gear selector moves into PARK.
The driver door module communicates with the Remote Key-Less Entry (RKE) module over the class 2 data link. The RFA module receives Powertrain Control Module (PCM) shift select changes. Whenever the left front door is closed, the ignition is in RUN and the gear selector is shifted out of PARK, the RFA module will transmit a class 2 lock doors message to the driver door module. The driver door module will send this message on to the other door modules over The Simple Bus Interface (SBI) and the modules will lock their doors as programmed. If personalization is selected to do so, the RKE will also unlock the doors when the gear selector lever is put back in to PARK. Refer to BCM Programming in Configuration in Body Control System for programming procedure.
CENTRAL DOOR UNLOCK DESCRIPTION
The Central Door Unlock feature allows the operator to lock all of the doors from outside the vehicle by using the door lock key in the drivers door lock. When the key is inserted into the drivers door and held to the Unlock position for approximately two seconds, or turned to the Unlock position twice in approximately three seconds, the Key Cylinder Unlock Switch that is mounted internally closes, and all doors will unlock.
DOOR DESCRIPTION
The following are the DIC messages associated with the power door system:
DRIVER DOOR AJAR (140)
The Driver Door Module (DDM) receives a discrete input from the driver ajar switch. The IPC receives the status of the driver door from the Driver Door Module (DDM) via class 2 serial data message. When the driver door is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the PC displays the message. Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h (3 MPH), the IPC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
PASSENGER DOOR AJAR (141)
The Passenger Door Module (PDM) receives a discrete input from the passenger ajar switch and sends the status to the Driver Door Module (DDM) via the Simple Bus Interface (SBI). The IPC receives the status of the passenger door from the Driver Door Module (DDM) via class 2 serial data message. When the passenger door is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the IPC displays the message. Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h (3 MPH), the PC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
LEFT REAR DOOR AJAR (142)
The LH Rear Door Module (LRDM) receives a discrete input from the LH rear ajar switch and sends the status to the Driver Door Module (DDM) via the Simple Bus Interface (SBI). The IPC receives the status of the LH rear door from the Driver Door Module (DDM) via class 2 serial data message. When the LH rear door is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the IPC displays the message. Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h (3 MPH), the PC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data message requesting 5 chimes to sound.
RIGHT REAR DOOR AJAR (143)
The RH Rear Door Module (RRDM) receives a discrete input from the RH rear ajar switch and sends the status to the Driver Door Module (DDM) via the Simple Bus Interface (SBI). The IPC receives the status of the RH rear door from the Driver Door Module (DDM) via class 2 serial data message. When the RH rear door is open and the vehicle is out of the PARK gear, the PC displays the message. Also, if the vehicle speed is greater than 4.8 km/h (3 MPH), the IPC displays the message and sends a class 2 serial data message requesting 5 chimes to sound
