Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer toSIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the left and the right windshield garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Standard) (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Standard)) in Interior Trim.
3. Remove the instrument panel (IP) air outlet deflectors. Refer toInstrument Panel Air Outlet Vent Replacement.
4. Close the air outlets (1) in order to prevent the upper trim pad fasteners from falling into the HVAC ducts.
5. Remove the fasteners (2) from the inside of the air outlet deflector openings in the upper pad.
6. Lift the IP pad (1) upward from rear edge, over the IP cluster, in order to disengage the retainers from the IP cluster trim plate.
7. Lift the pad on an angle, and slide the pad rearward in order to disengage the retainers at the front of the IP. It may be necessary to push down on right front edge of the pad in order to disengage the retainer from the carrier forward of the PSIR location.
8. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
9. Remove the trim pad (2) from the vehicle.
10. If the IP upper pad is to be replaced, remove the speakers from the trim pad. Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
11. Straighten the mounting tabs for the speaker grilles.
Remove the speaker grilles from the trim pad.
12. Remove the speaker wiring harness from the trim pad.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the speaker wiring harness to the trim pad (2).
2. Install the speaker grilles to the trim pad (2).
Fold over the speaker grilles' retaining tabs, in order to secure the speaker grilles.
3. Install the speakers to the trim pad (2). Refer to Radio Front Speaker Replacement in Entertainment.
4. Install the IP trim pad (2) to the IP assembly, and reconnect the electrical connection (1).
5. Slide the IP pad forward in order to engage the front retainers to the IP carrier.
6. Align the rear edge of the IP pad (1) with the IP cluster bezel, and snap the retainers into the upper pad.
Notice: Refer toFastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
7. Install the fasteners (2) into the air outlet deflector openings.
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
8. Open the air outlets (1).
9. Install the air outlet vents. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Vent Replacement.
10. Install the right and the left windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Standard) (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Standard)) in Interior Trim.
11. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
