Console Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to SIR Service Precautions Caution In Service Precautions.
1. Fully extend the telescopic steering wheel.
2. Disable the SIR.
3. Remove the storage bins or the CD changer as needed.
4. Remove the console trim plate.
5. Remove the left console trim panel.
6. Remove the right console trim panel.
7. Disconnect the shifter cable from the shifter and remove the fastener that secures the shift cable to the front bracket.
8. Disconnect the park lock electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the park lock cable from the shifter.
10. Remove the cover (1) from the floor of the storage bin.
11. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1,2,3) from both of the side openings at the front of console.
12. Move both front seats to the rear in order to access the front console to floor fasteners.
13. Remove the 2 fasteners (1) that secure the metal bracket arms to the floor.
14. Remove the 2 nuts (2) from the console rear to the floor pan.
15. Remove the 2 fasteners (2) from the console (1) to the lower Instrument Panel (IP).
IMPORTANT: Use care when removing the console. The metal brackets can come in contact with the seats and damage the material.
16. Lift up the rear of the console and slide the console rearward.
17. Feed the wiring harness out of the shifter opening and the left side of the console.
Remove the center console from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Use care when installing the console. The metal brackets can come in contact with the seats and damage the material.
1. Position the console assembly on the floor and feed the wiring harness back to the original position.
2. Connect the console electrical connectors.
3. Lift up on the rear of the center console (1) and slide the console forward in order to align the front edges of the center console with the lower IP.
Place the rear of the center console onto the rear studs.
NOTE:. Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the 2 fasteners (2) from the center console (1) to lower IP.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (2) to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
5. Install the 2 nuts (2) to the floor studs in the center console compartment.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (2) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
6. Install the fasteners (1) to the metal bracket arms on the console
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners (1) to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
7. Connect the electrical connectors (1 2, 3) on both sides of the console.
8. Install the cover (1) to the floor of the storage bin.
9. Install the park lock cable to the shifter.
10. Connect the park lock electrical connector.
11. Connect the shift cable to the shifter, and install the shifter cable retaining fastener to the bracket.
12. Install the left console panel.
13. Install the right console panel.
14. Install the console trim plate.
15. Install the storage bins or the CD changer as needed.
16. Enable the SIR.
17. Return the telescopic steering column and seats to the original positions.
