Throttle Body Service

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to MAF and Screen Notice in Service and Precautions.




1. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor electrical connector (1) from the MAF/IAT sensor (2).
2. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor assembly.

NOTE: Do not damage the MAF sensor screen. A damaged screen could restrict airflow and lead to a driveability concern.




3. Inspect the throttle body (1) bore and throttle valve plate for deposits. It is necessary to open the throttle valve to inspect all surfaces.

NOTE: Do not use any solvent that contains Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK). This solvent may damage fuel system components.

4. Clean the throttle body bore and throttle valve plate using a clean shop towel with GM Top Engine Cleaner or carburetor cleaner.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE:
^ The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must line up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect airflow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveability concern. An improperly installed inlet duct assembly or air cleaner assembly may cause misalignment.

1. Install the MAF/IAT sensor assembly.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service and Precautions.

2. Install the MAF/IAT sensor electrical connector (1) to the MAF/IAT sensor (2).

Tighten
Tighten the MAF/IAT sensor clamp(s) to 4 N.m (35 lb in).
