Electromagnetic Interference

The ABS components are sensitive to electromagnetic interference (EMI). Perform the following checks if an intermittent malfunction is suspected:
- Check for proper installation of wiring harnesses resulting from add-on options.
- Visually inspect the wheel speed sensor and the toothed ring for the following conditions. Remove any foreign material and replace any damaged components. Properly attach all components.
- Looseness.
- Damage.
- Foreign material accumulation.
- Proper mounting.
- Check for proper routing of the wheel speed sensor wiring near spark plug wires.
- Use the special tool J 39200 DMM to measure the resistance of the spark plug wires.
- Monitor the scan tool wheel speeds while test driving the vehicle. Refer to the appropriate wheel speed DTC if any wheel speed drops or displays an erratic speed.
