B1552 Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
DTC B1552 indicates that the keep alive memory (KAM) in the instrument cluster has been reset. The KAM in the instrument cluster normally resets whenever power or ground is removed from the instrument cluster. DTC B1552 sets when the battery is disconnected, for example.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
The DTC sets when power or ground is disconnected from the instrument cluster.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
When the DTC sets, the instrument cluster resets all displays to their default values.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If DTC B1552 sets without a battery disconnect:
1. Check for PZM DTC's B1972 or B1973, if current perform the appropriate DTC diagnosis. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List/Type in Body control System.
2. Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPC. Refer to Testing for Intermittent and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.
