Positive: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Open the electrical center cover and disconnect the electrical center from the battery.
2. Open the battery isolator.
3. Disconnect the battery negative cable.
4. Disconnect the power distribution leads from the battery positive cable clamp.
5. Disconnect the battery positive cable.
^ Loosen the clamp bolt.
^ Use a twisting motion to release the clamp.
^ Use a universal puller if the clamp does not easily release.




6. Remove the front engine wiring harness cover.
7. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
8. Remove the following starter motor lead components:
^ The terminal nuts (1, 2)
^ The washers
^ The battery cable terminal lead
^ The starter solenoid terminal lead
9. Remove the battery positive cable from the front engine wiring harness.
10. Lower the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the battery positive cable to the front engine wiring harness.
2. Raise the vehicle on a suitable support. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the following starter motor lead components:
^ The battery cable terminal lead
^ The starter solenoid terminal lead
^ The washers
^ The terminal nuts (1, 2)

4. Tighten
^ Tighten the battery cable terminal nut to 13 N.m (115 lb in).
^ Tighten the starter solenoid terminal nut to 4 N.m (35 lb in).




5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Install the front engine wiring harness cover.
7. Connect the battery positive cable.

Tighten
Tighten the battery positive cable bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

8. Connect the power distribution leads to the battery positive cable clamp.
9. Connect the battery negative cable.
10. Close the battery isolator.
11. Connect the electrical center over the battery and close the cover.
