Telescoping Wheel Switch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.





2. Remove the bolt securing the telescoping actuator assembly to the column.





3. Remove four fasteners securing the telescoping actuator assembly to the steering column.
4. Disconnect the electrical connection.
5. Remove the telescoping actuator assembly.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Connect the telescoping actuator assembly electrical connection and install.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install four bolts securing the telescoping actuator assembly.
- Tighten the telescoping actuator assembly bolts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).





3. Install the bolt securing the telescoping actuator assembly to the column.
- Tighten the telescoping actuator assembly bolt to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).

4. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
