Air Cleaner Element Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Remove the coolant surge inlet hose (1) from the throttle body to surge tank (2) (coolant recovery tank).
2. Remove the air cleaner cover (3) from the air cleaner.
3. Remove the IAT sensor connector from the IAT sensor (1).
4. Loosen the intake air duct clamp at the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (2) end of the duct.
5. Disconnect the intake air duct from the MAF sensor.
6. Disengage the air cleaner cover latches.
7. Remove the air cleaner element.
8. Remove any loose debris that may be found laying in the base of the air cleaner.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the new air filter element.
IMPORTANT: The outlet of the air cleaner assembly and the MAF sensor inlet duct must be lined up when completely installed. Misalignment may cause incorrect air flow readings resulting in MIL illumination or a driveabilty concern.
2. Pivot the air cleaner cover and duct assembly until the latches and cover engage in the air cleaner element base.
3. Inspect to be sure that both latches latch.
4. Install the intake air duct (1) over the Mass Air Flow Sensor, being careful to ensure that the intake air duct is secure around the entire outer edge of the Mass Air Flow Sensor.
Tighten
Tighten the clamp assembly to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
5. Connect the IAT sensor connector (1) to the IAT sensor.
6. Install the coolant surge inlet hose (1) from the throttle body to surge tank (2) (coolant recovery tank).
7. Install the air cleaner cover (3).
Tighten
Tighten the clamp assembly to 9 N.m (80 lb in).
