Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lift Points.
2. Remove the nuts from the catalytic converter to the exhaust downpipe.





3. Remove the oxygen sensor. Refer to H02S Replacement (Front) in Powertrain Management.
4. Remove the four bolts securing the exhaust downpipe to the exhaust manifold.





5. Remove the exhaust downpipe.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the exhaust downpipe.
2. Install the four bolts securing the exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold.

Important: Do not tighten the bolts at this time.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





3. Install the nuts from the catalytic converter to the exhaust downpipe.
^ Tighten the catalytic converter bolts to 24 Nm (118 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the oxygen sensor.
5. Tighten exhaust downpipe.
^ Tighten the two right exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.) and the left exhaust downpipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower the vehicle.
