Oil Pan: Service and Repair

Removal Procedure
1. Remove the transmission.
2. Drain the engine oil.
3. Remove the exhaust crossover pipe.
4. Remove thirteen oil pan bolts.

5. Remove the oil pan. The gasket is reusable unless damaged. Do not remove the gasket from the oil pan groove unless replacement is required.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the new oil pan seal if required by starting the seal into the pan groove and working the seal into the groove in both directions. Once the seal is exposed to the oil it will expand and no longer stay in the groove without wrinkles. If this condition exists, replace it with a new seal.
2. Position the oil pan to the crankcase.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install thirteen oil pan bolts.
^ Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) in sequence shown.
4. Install the exhaust crossover.
5. Install the transmission.
6. Refill the engine oil.
