Instrument Panel (IP) - Retainer Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the console.
3. Remove the passenger side insulator panel.
4. Remove the side window air outlets.
5. Remove the passenger side inflator module.
6. Remove the passenger side instrument panel accessory trim plate.
7. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
8. Remove the radio or the navigation display module.
9. Remove the AC/heater control head.
10. Remove the lap cooler duct.
11. Remove the steering column.
12. Remove headlamp switch.
13. Remove the fuel/rear compartment release switch.
14. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.




15. Disconnect the park lock cable from the ignition switch. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD) or Park Lock Cable Replacement (RHD) in Automatic Transaxle.
16. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment.
17. Remove the instrument panel retaining screws from the ends of the retainer.
18. Remove fasteners from instrument panel retainer. One fastener (1) is located in the opening for the fuel/rear compartment release switch.
19. Remove the retaining bolts from the instrument panel retainer to lower support bracket.
20. Remove instrument panel retainer from the carrier, feed wiring through openings as necessary.
Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
Complete removal.
21. Remove the ignition switch from the instrument panel.
22. Remove the inside temperature sensor from the instrument panel retainer.
23. Remove the drivers side trim plate from the instrument panel.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE



1. Install the driver side trim plate to the instrument panel.
2. Install the inside temperature sensor to the instrument panel retainer.
3. Install the ignition switch to the instrument panel.
4. Partially install the instrument panel retainer to the carrier. Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
5. Guide the wiring through the instrument panel retainer openings.
Align the instrument panel retainer to the carrier complete installation.
6. Install the retaining bolts to the instrument panel retainer to the lower support bracket.
7. Install the fasteners to the instrument panel retainer. One fastener (1) is located in the opening for the fuel/rear compartment release switch.




8. Install the instrument panel retaining screws to the ends of the retainer.
9. Install the instrument panel storage compartment.
10. Connect the park lock cable to the ignition switch. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD) or Park Lock Cable Replacement (RHD) in Automatic Transaxle.
11. Connect the ignition switch electrical connector.
12. Install the fuel/rear compartment release switch.
13. Install headlamp switch.
14. Install the steering column.
15. Remove the lap cooler duct.
16. Install the AC/heater control head.
17. Install the radio or the navigation display module.
18. Install the instrument panel cluster.
19. Install the passenger side instrument panel accessory trim plate.
20. Install the passenger side inflator module.
21. Install the side window air outlets.
22. Install the passenger side insulator panel.
23. Install the console.
24. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
