Instrument Panel (IP) - Accessory Trim Plate Replacement - Upper
REMOVAL PROCEDURECAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the left windshield garnish molding.
3. Remove the right windshield garnish molding.
4. Remove the air outlet deflectors.
5. Close the air outlets (1) in order to prevent the upper trim pad fasteners from falling into the HVAC ducts.
6. Remove fasteners (2) from inside of the air outlet deflector openings to upper pad.
7. Lift pad (1) upward from rear edge over instrument panel cluster to disengage retainers from instrument panel cluster trim plate.
8. Lift pad on an angle and slide rearward to disengage front retainers at front of dash. It may be necessary to push down on right front edge to disengage retainer from carrier forward of PSIR location.
9. Disconnect the electrical connector (1).
10. Remove the trim pad (2) from the vehicle.
11. Remove the speakers from the trim pad.
12. Straighten the speaker grille mounting tabs. Remove the speaker grilles from the trim pad.
13. Remove the speaker wiring harness from the trim pad.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the speaker wiring harness to the trim pad.
2. Install the speaker grilles to the trim pad. Fold the speaker grille retaining tabs over to secure the grilles.
3. Install the speakers to the trim pad.
4. Set the pad onto instrument panel and reconnect the electrical connector (1).
5. Slide the pad forward to engage the front retainers to instrument panel carrier.
6. Align the rear edge of the pad (1) with the instrument panel cluster bezel and snap the retainers into the upper pad.
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
7. Install the fasteners (2) into the air outlet deflector openings.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
8. Open the air outlets (1).
9. Install the air outlet deflectors.
10. Install the right windshield garnish molding.
11. Install the left windshield garnish molding.
12. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
