Console Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE



1. Fully extend the telescopic steering wheel.

CAUTION: Refer to SIR Handling Caution in Cautions and Notices.

2. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
3. Remove the storage bins or CD changer as needed.
4. Remove the console trim plate.
5. Remove the left console panel.
6. Remove the right console panel.
7. Disconnect the shifter cable from the shifter and remove the bolt securing the shift cable to the front bracket. Refer to Shift Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
8. Disconnect park lock electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the park lock cable from the shifter. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement (LHD) or Park Lock Cable Replacement (RHD) in Automatic Transaxle.
10. Remove the cover (1) from the floor of the storage bin.




11. Disconnect the electrical connectors (1, 2, 3) from both side openings at the front of the console.




12. Remove the fasteners securing both front seats and move the seats rearward to allow access to the center console.
13. Remove the 2 bolts (1) securing the metal bracket arms to the floor.




14. Remove the 2 nuts (2) from console rear to floor pan.




15. Remove the 2 fasteners (2) from the console (1) to the IP lower.

IMPORTANT: Use care when removing the console. The metal bracket can come into contact with the seats and damage the material.

16. Lift up the rear of the console and slide rearward.
17. Feed the wiring harness out of the shifter opening and the left side of the console. Remove the console.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




IMPORTANT: Use care when installing the console. The metal bracket can come into contact with the seats and damage the material.

1. Position the console assembly into position and feed wiring harness back into original position.
2. Lift up on the rear of the console and slide forward to align the front edges of the console with the IP lower and place the rear of console onto the rear studs.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the 2 fasteners (2) from the console into IP lower bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).




4. Install the 2 nuts (2) to the floor studs in the console bucket.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (59 lb in).




5. Install the fasteners (1) to the metal bracket arms on the console.

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




6. Install the seats.
7. Connect the electrical connectors (1, 2, 3) on both sides of the console.




8. Install the cover (1) to the floor of the storage bin.
9. Install the park lock cable to the shifter.
10. Connect the park lock electrical connector.
11. Connect the shift cable to the shifter and install the shifter cable retaining bolt to the bracket. Refer to Shift Cable Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
12. Install the left console panel.
13. Install the right console panel.
14. Install the console trim plate.
15. Install the storage bins or CD changer as needed.
16. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
17. Return the telescopic steering column to the original position.
