Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Place the window in the full up position.
2. Remove the door trim panel.
3. Remove the water deflector.
4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (2).
5. Disconnect the retainer clip securing the inside door handle cable (3) to the inner door panel.




6. Disconnect the lock cylinder rod (driver's door only).




7. Disconnect the door handle rod (1) from the door latch retainer clip (2).




8. Remove the lock knob from the rod by twisting counter-clockwise the knob.




9. Remove the 3 fasteners (4) from the door latch.
10. Remove the door latch from the door.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Connect the electrical connectors (2).
2. Install the door latch into the door.
3. Connect the retainer clip to the door for the inside door handle cable (3).
4. Route the door lock knob into position.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

5. Install the 3 door latch fasteners (4).

Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




6. Push outside door handle rod (1) up. Insert into latch clip (2). Close the clip.
7. Ensure the lock rod is properly installed into the retention clip.




8. Install the lock cylinder rod (driver's door only).




9. Install the lock knob by turning clock-wise onto the lock rod.

IMPORTANT: Check for the proper operation of the door handle and lock cylinder before installing the water deflector and the door trim panel.

10. Install the water deflector.
11. Install the door trim panel.
