P0325

Circuit Description

This diagnostic DTC is used to check the PCM and its Knock Sensor (KS) module. The PCM has stored a calibrated time that it considers to be a valid spark knock duration. If the PCM sees a knock event that was longer in duration than the acceptable time, the PCM sets DTC P0325.

Conditions for Running the DTC

^ Test continuously.
^ Ignition voltage 11 volts or more.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The knock sensor reports a knock event longer than 99.99 milliseconds for 3 seconds continuously.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Ignition control uses the 87 octane spark advance.

^ The PCM will illuminate the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when the diagnostic runs and tails.
^ The PCM will record operating conditions at the time the diagnostic fails. This information will be stored in the Freeze Frame and Failure Records.

Conditions for Clearing the MIL/DTC

^ The PCM will turn the MIL OFF after three consecutive drive trips that the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
^ A Last Test Failed (current) DTC will clear when the diagnostic runs and does not fail.
^ A History DTC will clear after forty consecutive warm-up cycles with no failures of any emission related diagnostic test.
^ Use a scan tool to clear DTCs.
^ Interrupting PCM battery voltage may or may not clear DTCs. This practice is not recommended. Refer to Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes
