Theft Deterrent System Diagnosis

DTC B1328 Battery/Source Voltage High:





CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
Battery positive voltage (B+) is supplied to the Theft Deterrent (VTD) Module at connector terminal A, CKT 240 (ORN). The VTD module monitors this voltage to determine if it is within a valid operating range.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING DTC
The battery positive voltage (B+) level rises above 15.5 volts for more than approximately 1.2 seconds.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
^ Stores a DTC B1328 in the VTD module memory.
^ SECURITY indicator is illuminated
^ The VTD module does not respond to any manual or memory inputs when the voltage is greater than 16 volts.
^ No driver warning message is displayed for this DTC.
^ No other VTD module DTCs set when DTC B1328 is set current.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING DTC
^ The battery positive voltage (B+) level falls below 15.5 volts for approximately 1.2 seconds.
^ A history DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles if the condition for the malfunction is no longer present.
^ Use the vehicle On-Boards clearing DTCs feature.
^ Use a scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
This DTC can set when the vehicle is connected to a battery charger, set to fast charge for a long period of time.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table:
1. Perform the Theft Deterrent System Diagnostic System Check before continuing with the diagnosis of this DTC.
2. Checks that DTC was not set erroneously.
3. Determines whether the malfunction is in the charging system or the VTD module.
5. Clear all DTCs after the repair procedure is complete.
