DTC B1004 Loss Of Keep Alive Memory (KAM):





CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Navigation Data Processor contains a data storage area which can save pertinent data when the ignition is turned off. The Keep Alive Memory (KAM) data is lost if battery power is removed from the Navigation Data Processor. The KAM area is an integral part of the microprocessor and cannot be serviced separately.

CONDITIONS FOR RUNNING THE DTC
This test will run no less than once every 300 milliseconds.

CONDITIONS FOR SETTING DTC
The Navigation Data Processor losses battery positive voltage.

ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
The Navigation Data Processor KAM data resets to initial values.

CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE MIL/DTC
^ A cycle of the Ignition Switch will be required to clear the current DIC.
^ A history DTC will clear using a scan tool.

DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
If DTC sets without a battery disconnect, ensure good terminal contact at pin 5 of the Navigation Data Processor connector C1.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.
1. Determines if the malfunction is present.
2. Determines if the malfunction was due to an internal fault in the Navigation Data Processor or a temporary loss of battery positive voltage.
