Ignition Switch: Service and Repair
REMOVAL PROCEDUREIgnition Switch Replacement: Removal Procedure:
1. Apply the parking brake.
CAUTION: Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF unless instructed otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.
2. Disconnect negative battery cable. This will maintain the key code. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect in Engine Electrical.
3. Remove the radio.
4. Remove the steering column.
5. Remove the ignition switch cylinder (1).
6. Remove one fastener from access hole in IP at steering column opening.
Ignition Switch Replacement: Removal Procedure:
7. Remove two fasteners (2) from the radio opening hole, one is at the top of the opening and the other is near the opening edge and the head of the screw is facing forward, This is a blind fastener, it can not be seen when installed.

8. Rotate the switch in the IP.
9. Disconnect electrical connectors from ignition switch.
10. Remove the ignition switch bulb from side of switch.
11. Disconnect park lock cable from ignition switch.
12. Remove the ignition switch through the radio opening.
13. Remove the fasteners (1 through 3) securing the ignition switch bracket to the switch.
14. Remove the ignition switch bracket from the ignition switch.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Ignition Switch Replacement: Installation Procedure:
1. Install the ignition switch housing bracket to switch.
2. Install fasteners (1 through 3).

3. Install ignition switch into radio opening.
4. Install the park lock cable.
5. Install all electrical connectors.
6. Install bulb to side of ignition switch.
7. Install fasteners (2) from the ignition switch to the IP retainer.

8. Install ignition switch cylinder to ignition switch housing.
9. Install steering column.
10. Install the radio.
11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect in Engine Electrical.
12. Release the parking brake.
