Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:

1. Disable SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
2. Remove the console.
3. Remove the IP center trim plate.
4. Remove the radio and heater control.
5. Remove left sound insulator.
6. Remove right sound insulator.
7. Remove the IP endcaps.
8. Remove the side window air outlets.
9. Remove the IP upper trim pad.
10. Remove the defroster grille.
11. Remove the knee bolster.
12. Disconnect the two body to IP electrical connectors (1) at top outside corners of IP.
13. Disconnect all other connectors from the IP to body.

IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:

14. Remove the steering column.
15. Disconnect the front parking brake cable housing from the parking brake pedal assembly.
16. Remove fasteners (1) from the steering column support to IP carrier.

IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:

17. Remove the IP center support bracket fasteners (1) to floor bracket.

IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:

18. Remove IP carrier (1) to cowl fasteners.

IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:

19. Remove the fasteners (2) from the IP carrier to hinge pillar.
Remove IP carrier from the vehicle.
20. Remove the IP cluster trim panel from the IP carrier.
21. Remove the passenger side inflator module from the IP retainer.
22. Remove the right IP trim plate.
23. Remove the IP cluster.
24. Remove the left IP trim plate from the IP carrier.
25. Remove the ignition switch from the IP.
26. Remove the headlamp switch.
27. Remove the fuel door/rear compartment release switch.
28. Remove the IP storage compartment from the IP.
29. Remove the fasteners retaining the IP retainer to the carrier.
30. Partially remove the IP retainer from the carrier. Guide the wiring through the openings.
31. Disconnect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector. Complete removal.
32. Remove the inside temperature sensor from the IP retainer.
33. Disconnect the park lock cable from the shifter.
34. Remove the A/C temperature sensors from the left and right air distribution duct.
35. Remove the fasteners retaining the left and right air distribution duct.
Remove the ducts.
36. Remove the fasteners from the left and right side window defroster ducts.
Remove the ducts.
37. Remove the theft deterrent module and mounting bracket from the IP carrier.
3 8. Remove the park brake assembly from the carrier.
3 9. Remove the IP wiring harness from the IP carrier.
40. Remove the upper mounting brackets and studs from the IP carrier.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Procedure:

1. Install the upper mounting brackets and studs to the IP carrier.
2. Install the IP wiring harness to the IP carrier.
3. Install the park brake assembly to the carrier.
4. Install the theft deterrent module and mounting bracket to the IP carrier.
5. Install the left and right side window defroster ducts.
6. Install the fasteners.
7. Install the left and right air distribution ducts.
8. Install the fasteners.
9. Install the A/C temperature sensors to the left and right air distribution duct.
10. Connect the park lock cable to the shifter.
11 Install the inside temperature sensor to the IP retainer.
12. Partially install the IP retainer.
Connect the inside air temperature sensor electrical connector.
13. Guide the wiring through the openings.
14. Complete IP retainer installation.
15. Install the IP retainer to the IP carrier fasteners.
16. Install the IP storage compartment.
17. Install the fuel door/rear compartment release switch.
1 8. Install the headlamp switch.
19. Install the ignition switch to the IP.
20. Install the left IP trim plate to the IP carrier.
21. Install the IP cluster.
22. Install the IP right trim plate.
23. Install the passenger side inflator module to the IP retainer.
24. Install the IP cluster trim panel from IP carrier.
25. Install the IP carrier to the vehicle.
26. Install the fasteners (2) from the IP carrier to hinge pillar.

Tighten
Tighten the IP carrier nuts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Procedure:

27. Install IP carrier to cowl fasteners (1).

Tighten
Tighten the carrier to cowl fasteners to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Procedure:

28. Install the IP center support bracket fasteners (1) to floor bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the IP center support bracket fasteners to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).

IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Procedure:

2 9. Install fasteners (1) from the steering column support (2) to IP carrier.

Tighten
Tighten the to 9 Nm (7 lb ft).

IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Procedure:

30. Connect the front parking brake cable housing to the parking brake pedal assembly.
31. Install the steering column.
32. Connect all other connectors from the IP to the body.
33. Connect the body to IP electrical connectors (1) at top outside corners of IP.
34. Install the knee bolster.
35. Install the defroster grille.
36. Install the IP upper trim pad.
37. Install the side window air outlets.
38. Install the IP endcaps.
39. Install right sound insulator.
40. Install left sound insulator.
41. Install the radio and heater control.
42. Install the IP center trim plate.
43. Install the console.
44. Enable SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
