Console Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDUREConsole Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
1. Fully extend telescopic steering wheel.
2. Disable the SIR. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
3. Remove the console storage container (1).
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
4. Open console storage bin door and remove storage bins (1) or CD changer as needed. Refer to Console Storage Bin Replacement (LHD) or Remote CD Changer Replacement in Entertainment.
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
5. Insert blocks in the front and rear of drive wheels.
6. Place the shifter in neutral.
7. Remove the console trim plate.
8. Remove left and right console panels (1).
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
9. Disconnect the shifter cable from shifter and remove the bolt securing the cable to the front bracket.
10. Disconnect BTSI electrical connector.
11. Disconnect the BTSI cable from the shifter.
12. Remove the two fasteners (2) from console (1) to the IP lower.
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
13. Lift up on cover (1) on the floor of the storage bin, a flat blade tool may be needed to lift.
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
14. Remove two nuts (2) from console rear to floor pan.
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
15. Disconnect electrical connectors (1 through 3) from both side openings at front of console.
Console Replacement (LHD): Removal Procedure:
16. Partially remove the seats and slide the seats rearward.
17. Remove the two bolts (1) securing the metal bracket arms to the floor.
IMPORTANT: Use care when removing the console. The metal bracket can come in contact with the seats and damage the material.
1 8. Lift up the rear of the console and slide rearward.
1 9. Feed the wiring harness out of the shifter opening and the left side of the console.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
1. Position console assembly into position and feed wiring harness back into original position.
IMPORTANT: Use care when installing the console. The metal bracket can come in contact with the seats and damage the material.
2. Lift up on the rear on console and slide forward to align front edges of the console with the IP lower and sit rear of console onto rear studs.
3. Install the fasteners (1) to the metal bracket arms on the console.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
4. Install the seats.
5. Connect electrical connectors (1 through 3) on both sides of the console.
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
6. Install the two nuts (2) to the floor studs in the console bucket.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
7. Install the cover (1) to the floor of the storage bin.
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
8. Install the two fastener (2) from the console into IP lower bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
9. Install the BTSI cable to the shifter.
10. Connect the BTSI electrical connector.
11. Install the shifter cable retaining bolt to the bracket.
12. Connect the shift cable to the shifter.
13. Install the left and right console panels (1).
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
14. Install the console trim plate.
15. Place the shifter in park.
16. Remove the blocks from the wheels.
17. Install the storage bins (1) or CD changer as needed.
Console Replacement (LHD): Installation Procedure:
18. Install console storage container (1).
19. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
20. Return the telescopic steering column to the original position.
