Support Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove the wheels and tires.
3. Lower exhaust system. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM Replacement.
4. Remove the springs. Refer to COIL SPRING Replacement.
5. Remove the brake calipers and support. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER Replacement.
6. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector from each wheel.
7. Release the park brake cable from brake calipers.
8. Loosen the parking brake cable (1) and then disconnect the cable at the rear suspension support assembly.
9. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the support assembly.
10. Remove the electronic level control electrical connector and vent hose.
11. Disconnect the electronic level control link from the left and right control arm.
12. Remove the electronic level control vent tube from the electronic level control compressor.
13. Support the rear suspension support assembly with a transmission jack and securely support.
14. Remove three bolts per side, securing the support brackets to the body of the vehicle.
15. Remove the front two and rear two bolts securing the support assembly to the body.
16. Lower transmission jack and remove the support assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Raise the support assembly with transmission jack in position.
NOTICE: Always use the correct fastener in the proper location. When you replace a fastener, use ONLY the exact part number for that application. The manufacturer will call out those fasteners that require a replacement after removal. The manufacturer will also call out the fasteners that require thread lockers or thread sealant. UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener. When you install fasteners, use the correct tightening sequence and specifications. Following these instructions can help you avoid damage to parts and systems.
2. Install two rear and two front bolts at the mounts.
Tighten
^ Tighten the front support assembly bolts to 191 Nm (141 ft. lbs.).
^ Tighten the rear support assembly bolts 191 Nm (141 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the brackets at the forward support assembly mounts.
Tighten bolts to 86 Nm (63 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the electronic level control air tube to the electronic level control compressor.
5. Connect the electronic level control electrical connector and vent tube.
6. Connect the electrical connectors to the support assembly.
7. Connect the electronic level control links to both control arms.
8. Attach the parking brake cable at the support assembly.
9. Install the parking brake cable (1) to the brake calipers.
10. Install the brake calipers. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER Replacement.
11. Install the springs. Refer to COIL SPRING Replacement
12. Install the exhaust system. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM Replacement.
13. Install the tires and wheels.
Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 Nm (100 ft. lbs.).
