Window Reveal Molding
REMOVAL PROCEDUREReveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window: Removal Procedure:
1. Lower the window to the full down position.
2. Remove the rear door window inner belt sealing strip.
3. Remove the rear door window.
4. Remove the rear door stationary window and division channel.
5. Remove the fasteners from the rear door window reveal molding.
6. Insert a flat, thin-bladed tool between the molding and the door pillar and cut the foam tape. Start at the top and work down until the tape is separated.
7. Remove the rear door window reveal molding.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
Reveal Molding Replacement - Rear Door Window: Installation Procedure:
IMPORTANT: If the old molding is to be reused, the foam tape must be replaced as outlined in steps 1 through 4. A new molding from GMSPO will have new tape installed.
1. Mark the location of the old tape strip on molding applique with a scribe.
2. Remove all of the tape residue from the door pillar and the molding applique. Use alcohol or paint thinner to completely remove old residue.
3. Install new foam tape to the molding applique. Align the new tape with the scribe marks made previously.
4. Wrap clear plastic release liner tab to the outside of the door pillar. Tape in place with a small piece of masking tape.
5. Install the door window reveal molding into the window frame.
6. Install three fasteners to the front of the center pillar.
6.1. Install the upper fastener first.
6.2. Install the lower fastener second.
6.3. Install the center fastener third.
6.4. Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).
7. Install the fasteners into the door frame starting at the rear and working forward.
8. Install a fastener in the forward corner.
9. Install the fasteners along the door beltline at the bottom to secure the weather strip to the door. If the molding is a new part new fasteners are included with the assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the fasteners to 2 N.m (18 lb in).
10. Pull the release liner at the door pillar and apply pressure to the applique to adhere the tape to the door pillar.
11. Install the rear door stationary window and division channel.
12. Install the rear door window.
13. Install the rear door window inner belt sealing strip.
