Programming Replacement Keys, Ign CYL, or PCM
To replace lost PASS-Key(R) III ignition keys if all currently programmed keys are lost it is necessary to determine the mechanical cut. Mechanical codes are recorded on the vehicle invoice. If these codes are available use them to create a new key. If they are not follow the procedure below. The mechanical cut must be determined first. The mechanical cut can be determined from the key code on the ignition lock cylinder or from the original key knock outs. If the mechanical cut cannot be determined the ignition lock cylinder must be replaced.
To learn the new PASS-Key(R) III key use the following procedure:
^ Insert a valid mechanical cut key and rotate it to ON.
The SECURITY indicator illuminates for the length of the auto-learn timer (10 minutes). When the auto-timer expires, the indicator will turn off.
^ Once the indicator turns off remove the key.
^ Repeat steps 1-2 two more times (total of 30 minutes). There will be a 6 seconds delay between 10 intervals.
^ Insert the newly learned key into ignition cylinder and turn to ON. The SECURITY indicator should remain off indicating the new key has been learned.
^ Any additional keys (up to a maximum of 10) can be learned using the Programing Additional Keys.
All Keys Lost (Techline T50/T60 is Available)
If the valid key code counter is equal to 10, and if the customer has lost all the keys that the PASS-KEY(R) III module has learned. The PASS-KEY(R) III module can be reprogrammed to learn 10 new keys. This procedure will take 10 minutes to complete. The Techline terminal is used to input a security code into the PASS-KEY(R) III module to reduce the time necessary to learn keys in this situation. The Techllne terminal can also load the security code into the scan tool for subsequent downloading to the PASS-KEY(R) III module.
1. Cut the new key with the mechanical key code for the vehicle.
2. Prepare the Techline terminal (and scan tool if needed) and connect to the vehicle.
3. Insert the new key in the ignition and turn the ignition ON.
4. Download the security code from the T50/T60 scan tool.
5. The Security indicator will flash once per second.
6. Leave the key ON in this state for 10 minutes.
7. Turn the ignition key OFF.
8. Turn the ignition key ON. The security indicator will illuminate for 2 seconds and the new key is learned.
9. Disconnect the T50/T60 scan tool.
This procedure will reset the valid key code counter to 1. To program more keys, refer to Programming Additional Keys. Programming Additional Keys
